Each year six Soap Box Derby World Champions receive rings from Taylor Made Jewelry for winning the Greatest Amateur Racing Event In The World®. The gold rings feature the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby logo on the face along with the words “World Champ.” On one side in raised lettering is the year of the race and the other features the most famous flag in racing - the black and white checkered flag. “We’re really fortunate to have partners like Taylor Made Jewelry,” said Derby President & CEO Joe Mazur. “Jim (Taylor) has a passion for this community and is really invested in it. He’s been a great supporter of our efforts here at the Derby.” Jim Taylor, owner of Taylor Made Jewelry, grew up in Tallmadge, Ohio and is a national award winning artist. In 1983 after attending Kent State he began his career for one of the largest jewelry companies in the country. Jim began designing jewelry in his home in 1987. In February of 1991, as his design business grew, Taylor Made Jewelry was established. Taylor Made Jewelry has been voted the best jewelry store in the Akron Area several times. This is largely due to Jim Taylor’s passion for design, quality craftsmanship, attention to detail and excellent staff.
