Pat Taylor has been involved in the Soap Box Derby for more than 25 years at the local, regional and All-American levels. He began when his son was racing in the mid-1980s. He then became director of the race program in South Charleston, W. VA., before being named in 1995 as regional director for Region VI-which he built into the nation’s largest. He also has served on the rally commission, as vice chairman of the regional directors and was founder of the popular multi-state Buccaneer Championship exhibition.
