David J. Holly

David Holly’s dedication to the Soap Box Derby began as a participant in the Akron local race in 1953, and continued throughout his lifetime. He volunteered for the Akron Derby Organization for more than 20 years, serving as director for four years beginning in 1978. He was a member of the National Control Board for 20 years and served as a trustee from 1999 until his death in October 2003. Dave Holly kept the racers rolling for 26 years as the All-American Soap Box Derby’s race steward and chairman of bridge operations.
