Brooks Townsend

Brooks Townsend won the Anderson, Indiana, Soap Box Derby in his fourth attempt in 1955. Over the years, he has assisted three generations of Townsends in their Soap Box Derby racing activities. He was director of the local Anderson race program beginning from 1965 until the late Seventies, and served the All-American Soap Box Derby as a regional director in 1981 and 1982. He remains active in the Anderson Derby program and currently serves as secretary-treasurer. The racing track in Anderson is named in honor of the Townsend family.
