Hello Derby Nation,
As announced earlier this year, Mark Gerberich’s tenure as president and CEO of the International Soap Box Derby (the “Derby”) will conclude on February 24, 2023.
Under Mark’s leadership, the Derby has returned to financial and operational stability, navigated the uncertainty and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, recruited new members of the Board of Directors and its committees, and maintained a dedicated and mission-driven staff and volunteer base within the Derby. Further, Mark has been instrumental in the continued development and growth of the Derby’s STEM-based education program and offerings.
Mark has made clear that he will remain an advocate and supporter of the Derby in the community. Of that, there is no doubt, and we are grateful.
On behalf of the Derby’s Board of Directors, we want to congratulate and thank Mark for his accomplishments while with the Derby and wish him only the best – and much success – as he begins the next phase of his career.
The Executive Committee of the Derby’s Board of Directors has been engaged with Mark concerning the transition of his responsibilities since his resignation.
A search committee, comprised of members of the Derby’s Board of Directors, has been formed and will work directly with a professional search firm to identify, vet, and recommend the next president and CEO to the Derby’s Board of Directors.
Further details on interim leadership of the Derby and a permanent replacement of the Derby’s president and CEO will be announced in the near future.
Very truly yours,
J. Bret Treier
Chair, Board of Directors
